The annual AAO Leadership Reception is an event marked by inspiration and the celebration of excellence. Each year, it brings together professionals who, through their commitment and dedication, have made significant contributions to the field of orthodontics. Among this year’s awards winners, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists (PCSO) was excieted to have four honorees.
Dr. Lawrence Andrews – Albert H. Ketcham Memorial Award
This year, the prestigious Albert H. Ketcham Memorial Award was bestowed upon Dr. Lawrence Andrews. Established in 1936, this award honors the memory and accomplishments of Dr. Albert H. Ketcham and serves as an inspiration for the continuous advancement of orthodontics. The recipient of this award is recognized for their significant contributions to the science and art of orthodontics, and there is no doubt that Dr. Andrews embodies these qualities. His work has left an indelible mark on our field, and we are all the better for it.
Dr. Robert Merrill – Humanitarian Award
The Humanitarian Award was deservedly won by Dr. Robert Merrill this year. This award acknowledges individuals who have gone above and beyond in rendering outstanding public humanitarian service, significantly improving the quality of life of those served. This service extends beyond private practice and organized dentistry, reflecting favorably upon the profession. Dr. Merrill’s exceptional contributions to community economics, public welfare, and other areas that improve the health and well-being of the community make him an outstanding recipient of this award.
Dr. Jae Hyun Park – Louise Ada Jarabak Memorial International Teachers and Research Award
Dr. Jae Hyun Park was the distinguished recipient of the Louise Ada Jarabak Memorial International Teachers and Research Award. This award is for individuals who have made significant contributions to orthodontic teaching and research. Dr. Park’s impact on both these areas is well-recognized and well-respected within the community, making him a fitting honoree.
Dr. G. William Arnett – Outstanding Contribution Award
The American Association of Orthodontists granted the Outstanding Contribution Award to Dr. G. William Arnett this year. This award acknowledges a non-orthodontist for their outstanding service to the specialty of orthodontics. Dr. Arnett’s dedication and contributions to our field are a testament to his passion for the profession.
