In honor of Women’s History Month, today we spotlight Dr. Kriztine Mae Chun. Dr Chun was born in California and raised in the Philippines until 2011 when she returned to pursue her undergraduate studies at the University of San Francisco. She went on to graduate at the top of her dental school class at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and then continued to pursue her orthodontic residency there as well.
Beyond Orthodontics: A Vibrant Life:
Beyond her orthodontic endeavors, Dr. Chun enjoys skiing, exploring nature through hikes, embarking on travel adventures, and indulging her passion for creating delectable baked treats. As an avid supporter of the Vegas Golden Knights, she treasures the excitement of their victories and the strong sense of community they foster.
Family and Personal Life:
At the core of Dr. Chun’s personal life lies her husband, Chris, and together they open their hearts and home to their lovable goldendoodle named Potato. Dr. Chun’s admiration for her family runs deep, as she and her two siblings have concurrently pursued careers in the medical field, a testament to their shared dedication to positively impacting the lives of others. According to Dr Chun, “after graduating from college, I knew that I wanted to be in the medical field but couldn’t decide what to pursue at the time. I worked for 3 years in the Bay Area biotech industry where I realized that I wanted to work directly with patients instead of working on patient samples. I decided to pursue dentistry, and ultimately orthodontics, because I could build relationships with my patients, their families and the community – all while helping my patients become more confident in their smiles.”
Memorable Moments and Rewards:
As she reflects on her orthodontic journey, Dr. Chun says that one of the best experiences was her first American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) meeting alongside her fellow residents. That experience not only enhanced her professional knowledge but also fostered enduring connections with colleagues, ensuring a collective pursuit of exceptional orthodontic care.
Dr. Chun finds her most rewarding moments in witnessing the transformations of her patients’ smiles. The joy and newfound confidence radiating from their transformed smiles fuels her commitment to delivering top-notch orthodontic care.
We are so happy to be able to feature Dr Chun in todays Women orthodontists of the PCSO.
