Alyssa S. Levin, DDS, MS grew up the daughter of a very successful orthodontist. Growing up, many nights she chose to sit beside him to do  homework while he worked up his cases.  He appeared fulfilled and engaged and that’s what she saw.  Combine that with a passion to serve people through healthcare; there may not have been a  profession more suited to her than orthodontics.  Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, she is now a proud American citizen (as of 2022) but has no plans to give up her Canadian citizenship anytime soon. Her journey into private practice has been anything but straightforward, having worked for a DSO after graduating from residency and then serving as the Orthodontic Clinic Director at A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health before starting her own solo private practice in North Phoenix, North Valley Orthodontics.

Aside from her professional achievements, Dr Levin is known for her fun-loving personality and her love of adventure. She has shared some interesting facts about herself on her website, including her favorite teacher from third grade (Mrs. Wilcox), her favorite childhood book (Goodnight Moon), and her favorite college class (Psychology of pain). She also recounts her coolest childhood experience, which was teaching blind children to swim, and her dream job (orthodontist, of course!) and travel destination (Australia/New Zealand).

Alyssa is a big sports fan, rooting for the Toronto Maple Leafs in hockey and the University of Michigan in football. She is also a lover of the outdoors and adrenaline rushes. In fact, one of her top non-orthodontic memories is when she climbed her first 14er in Colorado. “Hiking Macchu Picchu is also high on my bucket list.  And although I love getting outdoors to hike, I love coming home to play with my 13 lb. domestic short-hair tabby cat, Ollie, just as much,” said Dr Levin. Her favorite orthodontic memory happened when she witnessed a teenager’s transformation after having their braces removed, specifically when the girl’s father teared up at the site of his daughters new smile.

Dr. Levin, DDS, MS firmly believes in giving back, not only to her community but also to the profession.  Among other commitments, She is currently serving as Arizona’s elected representative to our regional Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists’ (PCSO) Board of Directors, and as the General Chair for our (PCSO) annual continuing education conferences. Her fun-loving personality and adventurous spirit make her a joy to be around, and her commitment to her patients and the field of orthodontics is truly admirable. We can all learn from her example and strive to be the best versions of ourselves, both personally and professionally.
