In the spirit of Women’s History Month, the PCSO blog is delighted to feature professionals who exemplify excellence and dedication within the orthodontic community. Among these individuals is Dr. Katie King, whose career is marked by a commitment to advancing the field of orthodontics and serving her community in Marin County.
Born and raised in the Bay Area, Dr. King has established herself in the heart of Marin County, where she practices with Dr Katie Bales and Dr Ana Calles. Dr. King is a triple Trojan (Fight On!) who studied at the University of Southern California for her undergraduate studies, dental school, and orthodontic residency.
Dr. King’s residency was distinguished by her focus on integrating digital workflows into orthodontic practice. Her thesis on digital workflows was featured on the cover of the AJO-DO. In her practice, she makes a continuous effort to incorporate advanced technologies for improved patient outcomes.
Beyond her private practice, Dr. King is involved in leadership for the California Association of Orthodontists (CAO) and the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists (PCSO). In addition, Dr. King works with underserved populations through part-time work at a community health center, providing orthodontic care to care to California native children and adolescents. This aspect of her career highlights her commitment to ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background, have access to quality orthodontic care.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. King is an avid runner and athlete. Her connection to sports, particularly soccer, where she met her husband, reflects the importance of teamwork and collaboration in her life. Dr. King completed the Boston Marathon (which she said training for almost killed her) and will run the Berlin Marathon in the fall with all of her siblings.
As the PCSO blog celebrates Women’s History Month, Dr. King’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the role that dedicated professionals play in advancing the field of orthodontics and fostering a more inclusive and caring society.
